Reiki

Reiki is a natural therapeutic technique that originates from Japan in the early 1900s. Duringa Reiki session, a practitioner works to balance the energy that runs through and aroundyour body. Although you may not be able to see it – although some can – your body is alivewith a living energy force, and working with this energy force can bring benefits to bothhealth and happiness.

Over millennia, indigenous people have worked with this energy to bring balance and joy into their lives. For example, acupuncture in Chinese traditional medicine is a common method of working with the energy force within your body.

Western modern medicine is slowly beginning to understand the benefits of such work, and the meridians, which are the primary pathways through which this energy flows, used by acupuncturists, have been largely accepted by scientists in recent years.

This newly rediscovered circulatory system has been termed the primo vascular system. It is a long-forgotten part of our make-up whose significance for our health and wellbeing is yet to be uncovered in the Western medical model. However, Reiki is gradually being introduced into clinical settings in the area of palliative care, for example. The Reiki practitioner, then, works with the meridians, and with another common concept, the chakras, to help the energy flow through our body as it should. The benefits of this span physical vitality, emotional wellbeing, a calmer mind and more optimistic outlook.

During a Reiki session, which is often carried out in person but also works well when client and practitioner are not in the same room, a skilled Reiki practitioner is able to sense where energy flow is stagnant or not flowing as it should, and works tore-establish the flow of energy, which can be affected by pain, emotional upheaval, trauma, etc, by sweeping those areas or working to increase the energy flow in that area.

A full Reiki session typically lasts for 50-60 minutes. I also offer mini, booster sessions for those who are short of time or as a top-up in between regular sessions. These mini-Reiki sessions are equally beneficial, and also very powerful.

Clients often find the most benefit from regular Reiki sessions, as the effects are cumulative. Ultimately, as a practitioner, my aim is to help you understand and manage your own energy. The word "Reiki" is translated as “universal life force energy”. This energy is available to all; indeed, it runs throughout every living thing, and tending to this part of your being should be established as part of your overarching wellbeing routing.
