About John Cashinella-Stanness

I am a Humanistic Counsellor (Gestalt) and work with people of all ages, culture and background, short and long term.

I work with a holistic approach whereby the client’s entire world and environment is taken into consideration and explored, bringing all areas of the client’s being into awareness. This allows for a dynamic and organic way of working, allowing a free-flowing process of change to evolve.

You will find me a very up-front, congruent, honest, accepting and empathic individual with a good sense of humor, whom aims to provide the very best service I can for my clients.

I work in an awareness building approach and an ’here and now’ way. This helps clients focus towards being able to express themselves verbally and emotionally, identify emotions where numbness or unsure feelings exist and move forward in a positive healthy way. Awareness can help clients become aware of and comfortable with their inner-self in order to move on from situations and function with a better inner peace than before.

Counselling forms the major part of my work and I accept referrals from all areas.

I am a full Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. MBACP

Further Information

There are no specific ’types’ of person that present needing counselling support. Counselling is usually sought when it is the only option available in order to cope or come to terms with a situation or personal issue. It can sometimes be hard to pinpoint why you may feel the way you do and counselling is there to help unravel the unsurity and help you make sense.

Many people can find counselling a difficult step yet probably the most rewarding one of their lives.

Counselling can be an exploration into the self that no other form of help or support can fulfil in quite the same way. Counselling can be a challenging process at a difficult time, yet counselling can also be enlivening and freeing for those willing to explore themselves.

Humanistic Counselling is based on talking rather than teaching (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and gets to the root of the problem rather than masking it, making it a long term solution rather than a short term fix.

Gestalt as in other forms of Humanistic Therapy emphasis’s the importance of the counselling relationship as a healing tool within counselling.
