About Psychotherapy For Women

I created Psychotherapy for Women in Central London because I believe that women’s problems are unique and need a special kind of understanding.

As a professionally qualified and experienced psychotherapist, I have been treating women for a number of years and I have come to understand that it takes a woman to understand the difficulties that happen to women.

Juggling families and demanding careers, trying to make sense of difficult relationships, are just some of the challenges women face today. Many of us face them alone, so its not surprising there is an increase in depression among women.

What do you do when you’re in the middle of a painful divorce, a loved one dies or you just feel so low you can’t get out of bed? One option is to talk over your difficulties in a safe confidential environment. At Psychotherapy for Women I can help you gain a better understanding of the problems that make you unhappy. I can also help you gain a better understanding of yourself.

I draw on extensive experience based on my work in the NHS and in private practice. However, my primary role as a therapist is to listen to you and help you articulate and explore your feelings in a safe and non judgmental setting.

Most of the women I work with have experienced difficulties early on in life.

Problematic relationships with mothers, bereavement , separation and cruelty can all affect the way we grow up. The impact of childhood events show up in our present lives in many different ways. They affect how we make relationships and how we feel about ourselves.

You are invited to talk about all aspects of yourself and your life. Then together we will explore both your childhood and your present relationships.

My role is to facilitate you and support you through your journey of exploration, to put you in a place where you can make your own changes.

I have been treating women for a number of years and have extensive experience in dealing with issues that are important to women such as relationship difficulties and surviving abuse and family issues. I draw on my experience in the NHS and private practice and believe the impact of childhood events affect how we make relationships and how we feel about ourselves.

I can see you for a few sessions, or long term, depending on you and your individual needs.

My training, work experience and any achievement

ABOUT THERAPY

Every therapy starts with an assessment, which lasts one hour. This is for us to meet each other and explore whether therapy would be helpful to you.

During this preliminary session we look at the problem you are presenting; discover more about your personal history and discuss what you want and what your aims are.

Types of therapy
Analytic Therapy, Brief Therapy, Integrative, Psychoanalytic, Relational, Solution Focused Brief Therapy

PRACTICAL DETAILS
The hour long assessment is £80 and is paid at the end of the session.

Each subsequent session lasts fifty minutes and is £70

This is either settled at the end of the session or once a month.

We would meet on the same day at the same time, once a week. Regular sessions are important to facilitate the therapeutic process. If needed, sessions can be held twice or even three times a week.

If you need to cancel a session I require a week’s notice.

I can offer short term therapy - six to 12 sessions, or open ended therapy depending on what you need.
