About Nea Clark Psychotherapy Leeds
Most of us reach a point a life when things do not go our way, when we face loss, multiple difficulties, crisis or emotional breakdown and cannot find the resource inside to battle with the challenges. I believe that everyone has innate resilience and the ability to find solutions, no matter how bad things seem. Often, it’s when we finally reach a place of crisis, that the greatest opportunity for growth and change occurs.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process where we can begin to understand and change the blocks in life that create stress, difficulties in functioning at work and in relationships, and within one’s self. We develop strategies together to change patterns and feelings that create a sense of being “stuck” into more flexible and creative ways of changing those patterns. Treatment can result in more clarity, more optimism, and hope in making vital changes to live more fully.
I am working with the following issues
- Emotional / mental breakdown
- Diabetes emotional support
- Life changes – marriage, new baby, divorce, moving house
- Couples Therapy
- Restore Self-esteem and self-image
- Cultural integration and belonging issues – at work, to the community, to the country
- Depression and anxiety
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy describes different talking therapies where you share what is troubling you and are listened to and supported in finding ways forward. Psychotherapy, too, looks at your behavioural patterns that are causing you distress in your daily life.
But psychotherapy also works to help you have a deep understanding of your emotions by looking at your past. It questions how what you experienced as a child and young adult affected you in ways that might still be causing you issues now.
Psychotherapy aims to find the very roots and beginnings of your issues and challenges, not just how to manage them now.
Some sorts of psychotherapy also dive very deeply into the exploration of self, looking at questions of identity and beliefs.
Counselling
Counselling is theprocess by which a counsellor helps an individual understand and solve problemsto help him or her cope with mental or emotional stressors. For example, counselling generally works to find solutions to specific immediate problemssuch as learning how to positively communicate in relationships with others.
Group Therapy
Group therapy can help in addressing a range of problems, including anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. It has been demonstrated as often more effective than individual therapy and the two are particularly powerful when used in conjunction.
- It can create a sense of belonging.
- A place to be accepted by others and be yourself.
- All in this together: Group therapy shows group members that they are not alone, and that, while every situation is unique, others are on similar journeys as you.
- Gives hope: New group members often can see how far existing group members have come in their recoveries.
- Group bonding: Members have the opportunity to encourage each other
- Benefit from who have had similar struggles, but found a way to overcome them to reach their goals.
- Provides a chance for people to look in the mirror and overcome negativity.
- Talking to people makes it easier to stand up for yourself.
- Less judgment in a group therapy session.
- Help to develop healthy coping skills.
- Possibility to replay family patterns and change these.
- Members can provide positive healthy feedback to strengthen your self-esteem and self-value
Economical benefit.
In each session you will meet with 4-10 individuals and, facilitated by a therapist, openly discuss concerns and difficulties within a safe setting. With the benefit of feedback, you will identify previously unacknowledged or unconscious patterns and behaviors and draw on the insights and experiences of others as you develop strategies for change.
My training, work experience and any achievement
- I am trained clinical psychologist with a master’s degree in Transactional Analysis with over 15 years of experience. I provide individual psychotherapy, group therapy, couples therapy and parent-child consultations working with adolescents and adults.
- I started counselling as a teenager supporting other teens in trouble, dreaming one day, I will build my own practise and become an accredited psychologist.
- I create a safe space to explore the many sides of life that have led to current struggles. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy. I feel there is a strong connection between the mind & body. My work is to empower my clients to actualize their full potential mentally & physically, whether it be related to their self-image, their relationships, their careers, their hobbies or whatever healthfully contributes to their happiness.
