My name is Leslie Bonnick and I’m a qualified and registered hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner.

I help adults and young people overcome a wide range of emotional and behavioural problems.

It serves a wide area including South Somerset and West Dorset, with clients attending from Axminster, Honiton, Seaton, Sidmouth, Chard, Crewkerne, Beaminster, Bridport, and Lyme Regis.

Appointments can be booked at the Axminster Health & Wellbeing Centre if that is more convenient. Axminster is on the Exeter to London rail line and the Centre is a 10 minute walk from the station.

My training, work experience and any achievement

The power of the mind to resolve emotional and physical problems has fascinated me from an early age. By 13 I practised meditation and yoga on a daily basis and used self-hypnosis techniques to deal with difficult situations. I read extensively and was particularly drawn to works on philosophy, Buddhism and Hinduism.

Before training to be a therapist I enjoyed an extensive career which included publishing, health, and retail. In my early twenties I lived and worked in Italy for the Norwegian author and explorer, Thor Heyerdahl. On my return to the UK, I began a twenty year career with Marks & Spencer, primarily based in their London Head Office, undertaking a variety of roles. My last year with M&S was based in Bournemouth as an Information Analyst for the Dorset region.

During my time with M&S I met my life partner and had two children. My partner was working away from home for long periods so I have first hand experience of the stress of bringing up young children as a single-parent, while holding down a demanding and stressful job, as well as the negative impact it can have on one’s health.

I qualified as a hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner in 2003. My initial training was with Keran and Gill Webb of Eos Seminars in Bournemouth, and since then I have been very fortunate to train with leaders in their therapeutic field such as Stephen Brooks, Michael Newton, and Frank Farrelly.

Since March 2012 I have been a voluntary Director and Trustee of the Axminster Health & Wellbeing Centre and have been involved with developing new strategies for the Centre as it evolves into a community based charity.
