About Talking Therapy Helps

I am a qualified counsellor and offer face to face counselling in the Wokingham area. My therapy room is easily accessible, just 15 minutes walk from Wokingham Station, with ample parking.

Counselling offers you the time, space and opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential place. As a counsellor I will listen to what you bring to a counselling session and together we will work through it. Sometimes it is just life that seems to be getting in the way and it helps to talk things through.

Having someone who will really listen to you will help you to untangle your feelings so that you can find a way forward in your life.

There are many approaches to counselling, but no single approach has been shown to be better than another. Research suggests that the relationship with your counsellor is probably at least as important as the theoretical approach which underpins their sessions. I find that integrating different theories gives more flexibility in the way we work together, perhaps identifying issues from the past which cause you distress, but also understanding how to move forward in your life in the knowledge that these events have taken place. I am always open to new approaches and ideas and regularly update my practice.

My fee for a 50 minute session is £45 and I offer an initial consultation for £25 for a 50 minute session.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Roehampton University and have worked in Lifestory Therapeutic Centre in Reading and ARC in Wokingham - both local counselling agencies. For the past 3 years I have run a private practice based in Wokingham and until recently also in Reading. I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I volunteer for the charity Place2Be working with children in primary school, and am currently completing a Diploma in counselling Children in Schools. I am DBS screened.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked as a Registered Nurse in the NHS, the private sector and in a local nursing home. My experience extends from caring for patients rehabilitating following major illness, to supporting patients in the last days and hours of their lives and their relatives during this difficult time. Most recently I worked in surgery caring for patients before, during and after their surgery and supporting students in this most challenging of environments.
