About Damian Stoupe, MSc, Reg. MBACP

There are many reasons why you may have arrived at this page; most people tend to arrive because of the difficulties dealing with some of the thing, or more realistically -people, life tends to throw at you. For others there may some specific ‘thing’ holding you back from enjoying life to the full and friends and family are not able to help you get over these obstacles.

Often what is required is simply a change in the way we think about those things or people; changing

- Depression and meaninglessness into energy and passion about living;
- Fear and anxiety into creative, purposeful action;
- Emptiness and aimlessness into clear sense direction;
- Isolation and loneliness into confidence, competence and assertiveness.

I particularly specialise in issues relating to anger management, conflict, bullying and psychological abuse at home or in the workplace through.

In my practice I look forward; I do not spend too much time exploring the past – it cannot be changed and what matters is finding a way to move on and let go of what has happened. The past can inform the future but it should never control the future.

I work in conversation with you – we talk together, this way we can begin to explore what is happening for you – and by the way we are allowed to use humour – it is a much underrated resource in the counselling room

Please note I specialize in working in short-term counselling - up to 13 weeks, as by that stage new thinking will be starting to develop and you will begin to notice the changes.

Whatever the cause for you to arrive here; if you find yourself at the stage where you know something has to change with these thoughts, feelings, behaviours and emotion then feel free to give me a call or drop me an email to see whether my approach is suited to your needs.

My training, work experience and any achievement

• MSc Counselling
• Postgrad Diploma – Counselling in Organisational Settings
• BA(Hons) Economics & Management Studies
• Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy
• Diploma in Hypnotherapy
• Certificate in Community Mediation
• Certificate in Life Coaching

My main counselling qualifications were gained at the University of Bristol. Counselling training never really ends as there is always more to develop and understand so I am now continuing my studies researching for a doctorate (PhD) researching how people develop more meaningful relationships based upon trust and a feeling of safety; letting go of feelings of fear, anger and anxiety.

Professionally I am a recognized authority on working with bullying behaviours in the workplace, having published several articles and delivered various workshops at national conferences.

I am a member of the executive committee for BACP’s Workplace division. I work in organisations as diverse as the prison service, universities and NHS trusts. I am currently working on a pilot project in Somerset helping the victims of anti-social behaviour.
