About Venetia Minns MA, Integrative Arts Psychotherapist

As an integrative arts psychotherapist I specialise in individual and group work where the issues are deep and words may not be enough. I am based in an Holistic Natural Health Centre near Tunbridge Wells on the Kent / Sussex border.

Therapy can provide a safe place where you can tell your story, explore the things that you are finding difficult at the moment, and have the experience of really being heard by another person. When it is difficult to put problems into words, using art materials can be of great help.

Being heard with empathy and understanding is one of the most healing elements of therapy and counselling. Sharing in confidence allows you to explore the most painful aspects of your life and find ways of achieving more peace with yourself. This encourages the possibility of living creatively and consciously, and freeing yourself from the unhelpful emotional patterns that may be holding you back. Therapy can help relieve painful or difficult feelings and increase your general wellbeing

Psychotherapy is a private, confidential conversation.

My training, work experience and any achievement

I have been a student and practitioner of integrative arts psychotherapy since 2009. I have trained extensively in working with the arts and integrating therapeutic approaches including humanistic, existential and psychodynamic.

Working with a range of issues from anxiety to abuse, I have a special interest in supporting carers in the community, running studio art therapy groups and working with boarding school survivors. I encourage clients to engage verbally in sessions, as well as with visualisation, imagination and if you choose, to work with paint, drawing, clay, postcards or representational sand tray objects. The use of music, story and bodywork is also welcome, with the fundamental aim being to allow the full expression of each individual as a person. Absolutely NO artistic experience is needed!

My practice as an integrative arts psychotherapist has been further informed by my interest in family and personal constellations, dream workshops, storytelling gatherings, participation in group spiritual retreats on Iona, visiting art galleries and a deep love of nature.
