About Bev Gibbons

I am an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor working in private practice in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, LS24 within easy reach of York, Selby, Garforth, Wetherby, Leeds, Harrogate, and Ripon.

I am a qualified Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapist and Integrative counsellor, having worked in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 1998. I work with adults and young people. I also have extensive training and experience working with couples and groups.

I trained as a counsellor in 1998 and gained a BA Hons in Counselling Studies. I then went on to qualify as a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) psychotherapist and also gained a Masters award in TA. This was a 7 year training. My breadth of experience allows me to work in a wide range of ways, using psychotherapy as well as counselling skills and techniques, in response to each different person who comes to me. This could be shorter-term, focussed work dealing with specific issues such as anxiety attacks, bereavement or workplace problems; or our work together could be longer-term dealing with deep-rooted personal issues, exploring repeating patterns and connections between present feelings and past life events and experiences.

I charge £50 per hour for individual work (£40 for those not in work or from non-working households)
I charge £70 per hour for couple work (£60 for those not in work or from non-working households)
Thi is payable by cheque or cash at the end of each session.

Further Information

TA Explained

Transactional Analysis or TA is an approach to counselling and psychotherapy, which gives very helpful ways of understanding personal and interpersonal relationships and communication, and how this can be changed for the better. TA helps identify emotional, psychological and behavioural repeating negative patterns and problems and how they develop, giving many options for change and healing.

The basic principles of TA, set out in the 1950’s by its founder, Eric Berne, are:

We are all born OK as people

Everyone has the capacity to think and make decisions

With help, people can find their own answers and make new decisions

Change is possible
