About Richard Marsh

My name is Richard and my experience includes working with female and male clients in private practice, family centres and a women’s refuge centre. I work compassionately with my clients to help them find peace with whatever difficulties have brought them into counselling. I have over 10 years of experience and strongly believe that everyone can make the changes they need to achieve their full potential and live a happier and more fulfilling life.

I believe that my clients should be given the freedom to follow their own individual needs within counselling. This means that I work at my client’s pace to assist them in resolving the conflicts in their lives and empower them to be more comfortable with themselves.

About Me:
I have been through many organisational changes in my working career and understand how difficult it can be for those facing changes in their workplace. It was following observing the stress that had been caused to colleagues of mine who had been made redundant that I became interested in counselling and decided to train as a counsellor.

About My Practice:
Counselling takes place in a safe and comfortable environment where parking is freely available. Both short-term (usually 6-12 sessions) and long-term counselling is available. The first appointment will give us a chance to meet to discuss your needs further.

As a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am committed to working within their ethical guidelines.

My training, work experience and any achievement

Diploma in Humanistic Counselling (1995)

Since 1995, I have integrated a variety of other techniques from counselling models such as Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Psychodynamic theory. I believe this allows for greater flexibility when working with my clients.

I am experienced in working with the following:

- Relationship problems (individuals and couples)
- Career counselling and work related issues
- Loss, grief and bereavement
- Separation and divorce
- Serious illness
- Depression
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Lack of confidence and low self-esteem
- Anger management
- Addiction and dependency

Other concerns & issues I deal with

I have a great deal of experience in assisting organisations that are undergoing change to help their new teams to bed in and work efficiently together. During many organisational changes people are transferred to work with people that they have not previously had a close day to day working relationship. I arrange to attend the workplace to identify how friction between personnel can be reduced and the working relationships improved. In many cases I then work directly with the team for a few days to assist them to put the findings into practice.
