About Sheila Hamilton MBACP

I specialise in helping people who are suffering from stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low confidence, anger management, weight loss and relationship problems. However I have worked successfully with a very wide range of clients, covering an extremely wide range of issues. I provide a safe, comfortable, warm environment, where I support my clients as they explore the issues they are experiencing.

I OFFER A FREE 20 MINUTE INTRODUCTION CONSULTATION. This gives you an opportunity to meet me to see if you feel I am the right therapist for you free of charge.

I have over 16 years experience working with clients of all ages. I work with individuals & couples. I also work for companies & organisations.

I trained as a person-centred counsellor, however I use all the skills I have gained from the additional training that I have done to provide the best possible service I can to my clients.

I continue my professional development & to expand my knowledge by attending additional training courses and workshops.

I provide professional, confidential, empathic, non-judgemental, caring support for all of my clients. I will listen very carefully, treat you with non-judgemental respect & support you through the challenges you are experiencing. I have been a client myself many years ago, so I know how it feels to be sat in the clients seat as well as the therapist seat. I feel that this experience helps me to empathise with my clients more openly and to understand their fears and concerns about the counselling process.

I am a member of BACP and I work to their code of ethics.

I worked as a volunteer counsellor for Age Concern Stockport for four years. This involved visiting clients in their own homes to provide counselling for them. During this time I also helped to run group counselling sessions for people suffering from depression with the manager of the counselling department at Age Concern.

During my training I also set up a placement offering a free counselling service to patients at Wythenshawe Hospital who had either undergone transplant surgery or were on the waiting list for an organ transplant. This service had never been offered to transplant patients before. I found this experience both rewarding and humbling as we all seem to take our health for granted.
