About St Andrews Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice
I am a warm and compassionate therapist who will focus my attention on you, and, together will work out how you can begin to feel better.
I recognise what a big step this takes to even think about coming to see someone you’ve never met before. I can make this bearable by having a chat first so you can hear my voice. You can then decide if I am the right therapist for you.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I have over 9 years experience as a Private Practitioner in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Through my work in early childhood and adult trauma I have developed expertise, experience and empathy for the impact this has on your life.

My qualifications are: MPhil, BSc(Hons), RHV, SRN, Diploma in Transactional Analysis Practice.

I am a registered member of the United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis, Scottish Transactional Analysis Association and United Kingdom Counselling and Psychotherapy and have monthly clinical supervision with an experienced accredited supervisor. I also work on a voluntary basis, for the last 7 years, with the Womens Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre in Dundee. I have developed expertise in the treatment of childhood trauma, PTSD and sexual abuse.

I can offer you an full initial assessment and individual treatment plan to meet your needs in a comfortable, confidential and safe environment.

Further Information
How do I get to the practice?
My office is at 14a Woodburn Terrace, St Andrews, KY16 8 BA which can be accessed via Lamond Drive or Abbey Walk. Please knock on the door when you arrive. Please don’t arrive early for your appointment. If you lose your way please contact me on my mobile and I can assist you (07824700980).

What happens at my 1st appointment?
This 1st introductory session is to start to get to know one another and lasts 60 minutes. If we decide to work together then we can set an appointment to begin therapy. This will enable you to decide whether you want to proceed. I will ask you questions about what brings you here and what you would like to achieve in therapy. Together we can agree how we can do the work you need to feel relief.

What happens next?
The appointment to begin therapy is usually set for the following week. Transactional Analysis counsellors and psychotherapists offer weekly therapy, each session lasts 60 minutes. This session will begin to complete an in depth psychological assessment. Together we will further identify your reasons for seeking therapy and how we will work together in a therapeutic contract to gain insight into your conscious and unconscious process and how this may have influenced your decisions you have made about yourself and others. Once these decisions are brought into awareness they can be changed and resolved.

When are appointments available?
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (subject to availability) 9.30 am to 6.30 pm.

What fees do you charge?
Sessions are £40 for each 60 minute appointment. Couples counselling £55. Payment is required at each session by cash or cheque please. Concessions may be available for those on low income, please discuss this with your therapist

What if I need to cancel?
Please give me at least 24 hours (more if possible) notice if you cannot attend. Short notice cancellation will require you to pay for the session if you do not attend.

How many sessions will I need?
I am sure you can understand that this is a difficult question to answer without a consultation with me. Decisions about yourself, other people and the wider world are made in childhood and have had a significant impact on how you live in the present. Individuals respond differently about how and what they want to change; the more fundamental, severe, long standing and deep-rooted the decision the longer this may take to resolve. Your early decisions are individual to you and your therapist will work with you to support you to change and resolve the decisions impacting on your well-being. Please discuss this with your therapist who will discuss this with you in more detail.
Please write here any other questions you have and bring this with you to your 1st appointment. I look forward to meeting you soon!
