About Jean Burke Counselling and Psychotherapy
I offer face to face counselling and psychotherapy for individuals 18 years and over who live in West London, Middlesex and Surrey.I believe the priority in all therapeutic work is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client. Trust takes time to develop and it takes courage to decide to enter into a therapeutic relationship. As such I aim to provide a supportive, warm and non judgemental environment to enable to you to explore what has brought you to therapy. The pace and nature of the work will guided by you.
Typically the emphasis in our work will be to help you explore how you feel, gain some insight and understanding as to why this might be and, if appropriate, help you gain some perspective about the choices you might make next.
Recognising that everyone experiences the world differently, I am an integrative practitioner. This means that, dependent on the individual, I draw on different techniques and schools of thought such as existential, person centred and psychodynamic therapy to ensure we work effectively.

Experience
I have worked with a wide range of issues common to people seeking therapy, such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, bereavement and relationship issues. My experience includes working for the mental health charity Mind and Royal Holloway University. I have also supported people affected by cancer at The Mulberry Centre, West Middlesex Hospital and Maggie’s, Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith. I have a particular interest in bereavement, cancer and long term health conditions.
In addition to my practice I work part-time as a management consultant and facilitator with organisations to help improve employee engagement and communications. I am also a Trustee Director of NRAS (National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society). I have a background of 20 years in senior management roles in the corporate sector.

I am a member of BACP and I abide by its ethical guidelines. I am also a member of the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA).
