About Matt Ingrams Dip Couns, MBACP

I have many years experience helping people find freedom from painful and life spoiling issues.

I have a very high success rate in enabling my clients to get real and lasting results, often exceeding expectations.

I offer a free consultation where you can share what’s going on in a safe and non judgemental space. I would then ask you to take at least two days to make a decision. That way you will have time to be sure that the decision is yours and you are fully behind it.
My experience overwhelmingly tells me that if a client takes full responsibility for that initial decision to come and see me, then the outcome is highly likely to be successful.

I have a very busy practise but new spaces open up as clients achieve their goals and move on.
If I can’t see you straight away I will normally be able to within a couple of weeks to a month.

If you decided to come to me I would work with you according to your needs and wishes, using all I have learnt in my life, but especially in my 20 yrs of professional experience, to help you. Whatever issues you might bring, I would work with you, the person, as I see any issue or problem as only a part of the picture of your life.

Issues such as depression and addiction for example can be viewed as symptoms, signs that a re-balancing is necessary, which may include resolution of old unmet needs and unfinished business.

How I work.

Over the years I have developed a kind of radar inside me for what helps and what doesn’t, what one person needs and what another needs.

I utilise all the theory I have learnt and continue to learn in service of this internal sense, which enables me to focus deeply on my clients and facilitate them to draw on both our experience to support and heal themselves.
It is within the relationship between us that this can happen.

Research supports the idea that the counsellor/client relationship is the most important factor with regards to successful outcome.

I have a unique experience as a counsellor because I have developed my own helping model, taught it and used it with groups, couples, families and individuals of all ages.

But I came to believe that no one model could be right for all, at all times. So now that model forms a part of my helping package, along with many others learnt over the years. People come first, not any model, or theory.

My training, work experience and any achievement

I trained at the CCPE in London for my certificate in counselling and therapy and then at Wealden College in Sussex, which is a BACP accredited organisation. I have a diploma in counselling. I began working as a counsellor 18 yrs ago and have worked in charitable and private sector organisations. I am training as a supervisor.

I am a member of the BACP and abide by their code of ethics.
