About Wims & Associates
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. My main therapeutic approaches is Integrative. However, my training as a psychologist allows me the flexibility and creativity also to draw on a wide range of psychological theories and clinical evidence and to integrate other therapeutic models to the individual needs of the client.Therapy is not necessarily about diagnosis or cure, nor is it about pathologising or categorizing people; it is about self-knowing and the opening up of possibility within your life.
The safe and confidential space that counselling offers allows for the possibility of gaining a better understanding of difficult thoughts and feelings without the fear of disapproval from the counsellor and through the process of examining these feelings inner conflict can be resolved.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I have lived and worked in Denver, Colorado; Boston, Massachusetts; London, England. I have a BA (HONS) in Psychology and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.I have experience working therapeutically in various settings and completed courses in CBT, Focusing, Mindfulness, Trauma and Violence. I have worked in a Women’s Centre, University Counselling Centre, and in an NHS psychological therapeutic service in addition to my private practice. I abide by the BPS code of ethics.
