About Veronica Peck

Veronica has been involved in healthy living and personal development for over 30 years and has been qualified in Alexander Technique since 1986. She is also trained in counselling, life coaching, myofascial release therapy, has a medical background as a diagnostic radiographer and has run her own vegetarian catering business.

Veronica has helped and inspired hundreds of people and believes that its never too late to make positive changes and create a more fulfilling life.

Her aim is to maintain good health in both body and mind, to enjoy life and encourage others to do the same.

The Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique is concerned with balance and co-ordination and is a successful way to solve body problems. It’s a way of learning how to release harmful tension by changing how you habitually carry out your everyday activities. We tend to subconsciously develop bad habits throughout our lives and don’t realise that we are creating our aches and pains when we slump in chairs, grip objects too tightly, rush our activities, and generally not take any notice of how we go about our daily lives. This practical method will improve your ease and freedom of movement, reduce tension and improve your balance support and co-ordination.

How is the Alexander Technique taught?

The Alexander Technique is taught on a one-to-one basis and during a session Veronica will observe your posture and movement habits and use her skilled hands to release muscle tension while guiding your body into a place of balance. Analysing your whole movement patterns, not just your symptoms, she will help you to become aware of your habits of compression and tightness in you everyday activities of sitting standing and walking. You can then learn how to change harmful habits have more self awareness and make new choices in order to restore you original posture and poise. You come to understand how you body works and how to make it work better for you.

The touch used by Veronica is very gentle is totally non-invasive and you don’t need to remove any clothing.

What problems can the Alexander Technique help?

Many people develop back neck and shoulder pain and tight limbs and feel generally that their posture is bad. Others would simply like to feel more comfortable in their bodies and be free of stress and strain They may also believe that problems in their joints and muscles are unchangeable. However, as they learn the Technique they find that it really can make lasting beneficial changes resulting in improved movement and a better quality of life.

The Technique is widely used by actors and musicians to help with performance. It can also improve self-confidence and public speaking and enable a comfortable pregnancy.

How long are sessions and how many will you need?

Sessions last for approximately 45 minutes.

Everyone’s requirements are different some people need just a few sessions and others a lot more.

To gain the most benefit weekly sessions are recommended initially.

Some also like to use the sessions for regular relaxation.

I am always busy, move fast, drive a lot and spend hours and hours uncomfortably hunched over my laptop – my neck and shoulders are a testament to this life style. I arrived at Veronica’s for my first AT session seized up and in great pain. I had no idea what to expect and it was a revelation! Using her remarkable skills at ‘tuning in’, a gentle voice and moving my body in what seemed the subtlest of ways, Veronica rendered me almost pain-free for the first time in months, maybe years. After three sessions, my neck is far less of a problem AND I am beginning to correct my posture myself, before the trouble starts. Fantastic!

I was suffering from a really bad neck and back problem, unable to walk without pain. After two months of Alexander Technique with Veronica I was not only walking easily but was able to go on holiday and ski with my kids.
