About Anthony Richard

Hi my name is Anthony Richard I am a BACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist committed to providing therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment.

I have over 7 years experience counselling individuals, couples and young people enabling them to connect with life in more fulfilling, creative and rewarding ways.

I run a practice in both North Leeds and South Liverpool both in a friendly comfortable environment in a discreet location with easy parking and close to bus routes. For convenience I also offer skype sessions and am willing to do home visits if necessary.

In today’s modern lifestyles a lot of value is placed upon having more, achieving more and doing more. Whilst there’s nothing inherently wrong with this, it often comes with a price when we are driven to achieve this at the expense of our physical, emotional, and mental well-being and we start to experience stress, anxiety, depression and become overwhelmed in our relationships.Sometimes these symptoms can point towards deep lying issues of lack of purpose or meaning in life.

At certain times in life this can be triggered by external circumstances such as the loss of a loved one, health issues or work-related stresses. It is important at these times that we learn to have compassion for ourselves and to listen to these symptoms as signposts calling us to make changes in our lives that will allow us to experience more joy, purpose and well-being.When we are unable to transform our life experiences into creative action we can get caught up in unhelpful patterns and without clear perspective we become stuck.

Exploring our difficulties in the presence of another is helpful. This can be more challenging when the other person is part of the problem. Counselling provides us with a container whereby we can explore our difficulties with another person who can remain more objective.

It is when we are fully seen and accepted by another that we learn to accept ourselves and it is this acceptance that brings a peace into our lives.
