About Jenny Urruty Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am an experienced Counsellor and UKCP registered Psychotherapist offering Counselling and Psychotherapy for individuals and couples in Derbyshire (town centre location in Chesterfield) and Nottinghamshire (residential area approximately 1 mile from Nottingham City Centre).

I have a number of years clinical experiences, working in a variety of organisational settings including GP surgeries, Health Centres, Media industry (both national and local organisations) Alcohol Services, Carers Federation and the Criminal Justice System on a wide range of life transitions and changes.

My approach is relational based, working from a Humanistic Person-centred perspective. I believe and trust that we all have the inner resources to find our own answers, heal, grow and reach our full potential; living a richer and more fulfilling life given the right conditions and a helping relationship.

I work in a professional, confidential, safe and supportive environment so you can explore difficult or painful experiences; to gain a clearer understanding of yourself without the fear of being judged or criticised. I believe each individual is unique and has worth, regardless of their age, gender, sexuality or disability.

I offer short-term therapy (6-8 sessions) and open-ended longer term therapy, as required.

Providing both types of services allows either the focus to be on resolving a specific problem or allows deeper exploration around more complex emotional difficulties and problems. Alternatively it can give you the opportunity to resume therapy in situations perhaps where you have previously undertaken a short-period of counselling through your GP or your employer and you feel that your difficulties have not been fully resolved.

I remain committed to my on-going personal and professional development in order to maintain my ability to perform competently and to keep abreast of professional developments.

My training, work experience and any achievement

Masters Degree in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy 2012
Diploma in Psychotherapy (with distinction) 2007

I have also undertaken specialist training that complies with the Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (’DANOS’) that enables me to provide practical advice and support for those individuals who are having problems related to alcohol and its effects.

In addition, my previous business background inspires me to have an interest in work related matters such as coping with redundancy, workplace bullying and stress.
