About Baylis Therapy

Rachel Baylis:

Rachel is a professionally trained therapist and life coach, a member of the BACP and b-eat (eating disorders), and is a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders. She has worked as a youth counsellor, and for Women’s Aid, and voluntary agencies, as well as working for employer assistance programmes and other counselling agencies.

Her main mode of counselling is based on Gestalt therapy, incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. These methods work well alongside each other, as the ’here and now’ nature of Gestalt therapy allows us to explore deeply your ’story’ and needs, and the Cognitive behavioural element enables the client to actively continue their therapeutic process inbetween sessions.

Depression, anxiety, general life stresses, bereavement, and low self worth are some examples of conditions she works with.

Eating disorders: Her work with eating disorders is based on The National Centre for Eating Disorder’s research and training: her specialism is working with people suffering from compulsive overeating, and obesity. These can be overwhelming symptoms of disordered eating, and often the sufferer feels hopeless, finding it difficult to know how to take any positive steps, especially when they may have tried to do so before, and failed. Through a tried and tested method, she can help you to regain control, and start to enjoy rather than fear food, and to find a new and healthy rhythm to your life.

Comments from previous clients:

"Rachel made me feel immediately comfortable and able to offload without being judged. It was such a relief and helped me to be more able to stand up for myself at work".

"This was my first time with counselling and I am so pleased I did it. I can now see what I need to do with my future - thank you Rachel!"

"You’re a great listener - loved the creative stuff too, when I needed it. Thanks for everything".

This is your chance to work through your thoughts and feelings with a qualified and experienced professional counsellor, without being judged or criticised. Counselling is a process that involves talking about issues or problems that are causing you distress. It involves spending time exploring specific difficulties, such as low-mood or anxiety, to understand why you are feeling like this and what might help make things better. It is generally focused on specific topics that are affecting you at the moment, and is a supportive process designed to make you feel in control.
