About Fiona Foster Counselling and Hypnotherapy

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I am Fiona and am an experienced counsellor and hypnotherapist. I currently run a private practice in Westhoughton, Bolton, which is easily accessible to the Bolton area, Wigan and Leigh but also to other areas of Greater Manchester and Lancashire. Alongside private practice I work with children and young people in schools and the local community and also as practice counsellor within an NHS GP surgery.

You may be finding life hard at the moment or have the desire to discuss problems which are getting in the way of your happiness. This is where counselling can help, by allowing you to speak about what you are going through in a confidential, caring and non-judgemental environment, and begin to make sense of it.

Therapy offers you a chance to explore deeply held beliefs about yourself and your personality, and to look at how your past has helped to shape the person you are today. You can explore patterns of behaviour in your life, release true potential, find meaning and live a more satisfying and rewarding life.

I undertake short or long-term work depending on your needs and may sometimes combine counselling and hypnotherapy if it proves helpful to do so.

If you haven’t undertaken counselling before, you may be a little apprehensive. If you have any concerns, please get in touch and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

My training, work experience and any achievement

Since qualifying as a counsellor I have gained extensive experience working in many settings, whether in the NHS, private or voluntary sector. In the voluntary sector I specialised for a number of years with clients who were concerned about their alcohol intake or were alcohol dependent.
Experience in varied settings, together with additional specialist training has given me a deeper understanding of many issues such as bereavement and loss, abuse, stress and anxiety. This has enabled me to help and support people with a wide range of problems, to gain insight into their difficulties or distress and work together to develop more resourceful ways of coping.

My qualifications are:

Advanced Diploma in Counselling
Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People
Diploma of Advanced Holistic Hypnotherapy
Certificate in Bereavement and Loss
