About Mina Haeri Acupuncture

Treatment can address a very wide range of conditions. I take a holistic approach aimed at supporting the body’s own healing mechanisms.

I have been practising Traditional Acupuncture for nearly 30 years. I am a member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians and was a member of the British Acupuncture Council for over 25 years. I have studied in both the UK and China and engage in ongoing training for myself and others. I supervise fellow acupuncturists and am a trainer on the acupuncture supervision and mentoring course.

Specialist Skills
My extensive training includes a wide range of specialist acupuncture courses in the UK as well as clinical experience in both outpatient and inpatient hospital settings in China. I was also on the teaching faculty of one of London’s foremost acupuncture colleges for seven years.

Having worked in several different facilities including clinics in the West End, Notting Hill and Waterloo, as well as a number of specialist substance misuse clinics, I now have a practice in South West London where I have been for the last 15 years.

Extensive Training
My acupuncture expertise is supported by a life long interest and study of various healing practices, including many different types of meditation, Tai Qi, Yoga and Qi Gong, as well as more traditional counselling techniques such as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

Why People Come
People come to me for acupuncture for a very wide range of reasons including womens health issues such as period pain, fertility, pregnancy support, menopause. Pain including back pain, frozen shoulder RSI, headache. Stress, anxiety, phobias, sleep problems. Asthma, skin problems. Digestive problems. Addictions. etc

Feel Better All Over
My interest is not just the alleviation of the symptom that the patient first presents with, but also an improvement in their overall well being, vitality and self knowledge.

Bring In The Changes
I am particularly interested in the use of acupuncture to facilitate transition through life’s major gateways. Times of great challenge such as infertility, recovery from cancer or other major illness or debilitating diseases, such as clinical depression, can be seized as opportunities to create change and forge a new path in life.

Equally, puberty, pregnancy and the menopause are times when our body, mind and spirit are undergoing huge shifts. Acupuncture can be used to aid these transitions and ensure that we enter the next phase of life in a balanced and healthy way.

My training, work experience and any achievement

I have been practicing for over 18 years and have trained extensively in the UK and China. I have taught acupuncture for over 8 years in one of London’s formost acupuncture colleges and was a long standing member of the British Acupuncture Council and is now a member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians.

Testimonials - What People say about treament with me:

I have been very fortunate to be a patient of Mina’s over many years now and it has been the most worthwhile thing I do for my health and well being. Mina is particularly talented in her field of acupuncture but also in many other ways, I am forever grateful to her. It was very lucky that I was highly recommended to her in the first place. She not only has helped me with heart problems, depression and other ailments which my doctor couldn’t help me with but on many levels - body, mind and spirit, Mina is a wonderful gift in my life. This kind of exceptional care is not something you can find in just any acupuncturist, I am certain of that. (J.B. London)

I have been receiving treatment from Mina since 2002 when another alternative therapist whom I trust recommended her as an skilful healer.

Mina’s training in traditional acupuncture enables her to explain in a simple way why acupuncture works. Whenever I asked questions, fuelled by anxiety or scare-mongering media stories about alternative medicine, she has been able to quell these fears by providing me with a clear explanation of what she is doing, why the use of the needles would not harm me and why this particular treatment would work for me.

She is an excellent listener who is able to grasp what I tell her about physical sensations and emotions and to offer me a great deal of wise, often practical, counsel that has really helped me. I get almost as much from her insights and sage advice as from the physical treatment.

But above all her treatment works! I suffer from a bone disorder called Paget’s Disease, the main symptom of which is severe pain. I’m a keen dancer and walker and have been afraid that the pain would increase as the years went on until it became unbearable and I would be unable to continue these activities. With Mina’s help, this has not happened. After a session with her I experience a distinct easing of pain which keeps me going and supports my determination to manage this discomfort and to do all I can to prevent unnecessary deterioration.

When I reported to her that the heat generated by exercise also helped to keep my pain at bay, Mina reminded me that what is true externally is also true internally and advised me on the types of food that, according to Chinese medicine, would help me stay fitter and keep the pain under control. I took her advice, altered my food patterns and found that this did indeed make a difference.

Mina is a caring, empathetic, well-trained practitioner. She takes a holistic interest in her clients and I have found that extremely supportive and beneficial. I would recommend her to anyone who wishes to find a truly effective acupuncturist.
(B.A., London)

I was referred to Mina by my physiotherapist last year, having decided to make a concerted effort to correct my long-term back complaint.

I was immediately reassured by Mina’s relaxed questioning style, which led me to fully divulge all the details relating to my condition.

Mina then assessed my situation and devised a bespoke programme of accupuncure which, combined with my physioteraphy, has dramatically improved my physical well being.

Each session has had an immediate impact on my back pain and the breathing techniques that Nina has taught me have helped me to relax and mitigate stressful situations.

Consequently, my mind and body have both made great strides and I feel that I am firmly on the road to recovery.

Mina’s encouragement and praise have made me work even harder to finish the job and I hope to soon be visiting her for fine-tuning only! (R.B., London)

    What Is Acupuncture?
Traditional Acupuncture is a healthcare system based on ancient principles which go back nearly two thousand years. It has a very positive model of good health and function, and looks at pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance. The underlying principle of treatment is that illness and pain occur when the body’s qi, or vital energy, cannot flow freely. There can be many reasons for this; physical and emotional stress, injury or trauma, poor nutrition, infection or hereditary factors are among the most common.

    Stay Well Balanced
The overall aim of acupuncture treatment is to restore the body’s equilibrium, thereby ridding the body of symptoms of disease. In other words, when we are in balance we are more able to get well and stay well. When we are not, we are more likely to get ill.

    Focus on the Individual
The focus is on the individual, not their illness, and all the symptoms are seen in relation to each other. Each patient is unique; two people with the same western diagnosis may well receive different acupuncture treatments.

A growing body of clinical research shows that Traditional Acupuncture safely and successfully treats a wide range of common health problems. They may be clearly defined diseases or more generalized feelings of ill health, such as low energy, lack of concentration or motivation and not feeling as well as you know you could.

    Promote Optimal Health
Whatever the condition, whether it has a western medical name or not, Chinese medicine works by taking a full and thorough case history of each person. Through this investigation and looking at the tongue and taking a pulse, an acupuncturist makes a diagnosis about imbalance in the body. In this way every symptom or sign is relevant and a treatment plan can be drawn up in accordance with with the diagnosis. This holistic system of diagnosis can allow treatment to be given even when western medicine considers the situation a mystery.

Mina listens so carefully to tiny details and her treatment takes all these things in to account. It’s never just a purely practical procedure but a really thoughtful session, involving lots of sage advice to help make the most of the acupuncture. I truly believe our little boy Morris wouldn’t be here without the regular treatments I received from Mina and Karen Cohen to support my IVF .
