About Catherine Jennings
Hello - I’m glad you are reading my details - my name is Catherine Jennings and I’m a qualified counsellor with 12 years experience. I work in private practice in Wollaton, Nottingham near to Ilkeston, part way between junction 25 and 26 of M1.
My aim is to provide a welcoming, safe space in which you can talk privately about whatever is on your mind. Sometimes talking to someone separate from the rest of your life can be helpful in gaining some clarity and enables you to look at issues from a fresh perspective. Sometimes it can feel like a huge relief to finally talk about the thoughts that have been going round and round in your head. During Counselling I won’t tell you what to do, however, I will listen intently and help you find your own way forward as I believe you are the expert of your own life.
Each client has preferences as to the way they want to work together so we may simply talk or we may work in a creative way and for example: look at dreams, use a sand tray, draw, write or use clay, it’s entirely up to you, I may make suggestions but will not put any pressure on you to work in a way that you aren’t comfortable with.
I used to be a midwife so some people choose to talk to me about pregnancy related subjects such as : Fertilty treatment, miscarriage, stillbirth, termination and birth complications.
I work with both teenagers and adults on a one to one basis. People seek me out for all sorts of reasons for example: grief and loss, career decisions, relationship issues, loneliness, life transitions ( moving to a new area, changing jobs, becoming a parent, becoming single, becoming widowed), sexual, physical or emotional abuse, sexuality, financial concerns, self esteem and childhood trauma.
Some clients come for a few sessions, other clients come for weeks or years. I am happy to work with you for as long as you choose.

Masters in Counselling ( Distinction) University of Nottingham
Psychology BSc Hons Manchester Metropolitan University
Pre- Registration Diploma in Midwifery University of Nottingham
Certificate in Life Coaching Newcastle College
Diploma in Supervision ( not completed yet) Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute Nottingham.
I have worked as a counsellor for 12 years, initially in a GP practice, then in a local college as a staff and student counsellor and for 8 years in private practice.
I attend regular Clinical Supervision and Personal therapy and run a CPD group for fellow counsellors.
I also offer Clinical Supervision to counsellors.
I am a Member of the BACP and work within their Ethical Framework and Code of Practice. Further Information
I work in a residential area and there is on street parking.
Sessions are confidential.
I also offer life coaching.
