About The Art of Acupuncture

Individually focused…….
Based in London, the art of acupuncture provides a personalised approach to acupuncture that can be effective in treating the root cause of illness as well as alleviating the symptoms. As your health is our primary concern, treatment is always focused on you as an individual, aiming to gently restore health by treating holistically rather than specific symptoms in isolation.

The bigger picture…….

With an increasing number of people turning to acupuncture in the UK and globally, the World Health Organisation lists over 100 diseases or disorders where acupuncture can be effective, see WHO document for details. The list includes: back, joint and muscle pain; stress, anxiety or depression; menopause, menstrual or fertility concerns; skin conditions; gastro-intestinal problems such as IBS; migraines and headaches.

As well initially turning to acupuncture for specific symptoms or conditions, many people choose to have treatment to maintain good health, either as a preventative measure, or to improve their general wellbeing. Every treatment plan is different.

She also trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory and practice at ICOM.
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), Tracey has degree level training and adheres to the highest standards of professional care to patients incorporating The BAcC’s strict codes of safe practice. She has full public liability insurance.

She has an ITEC diploma in therapeutic massage and has also completed post-graduate courses in the following areas:

Auricular acupuncture, taught by Paul Blacker
Facial enhancement acupuncture (FEA) and micro-needling therapy (MNT), also known as derma rolling or collagen induction therapy, with Paul Adkins. See the Cosmetic Acupuncture UK and Facial Enhance practitioner websites.
Dermapen3 Med, Advanced Training Masterclass with Andrew Christie
The use of acupuncture in Gynaecology, Fertility and Assisted Reproductive Technology and Pregnancy, workshops with Sarah Major

In addition to the art of acupuncture clinic, Tracey also practices acupuncture at a busy central London dual-bed clinic. Before studying and practicing acupuncture, Tracey was involved in international business and understands the demands of managing work, home and family life. Her passion for acupuncture and Chinese medicine started in the early 90’s when she spent a year travelling in Asia, including many months in China and Tibet. It was during this incredible trip, that the first seeds of interest in a more holistic medical system and lifestyle were sown.

Further Information

Acupuncture Background

Acupuncture is based on an ancient medical system that has been developed, practiced, researched and refined for over 2,000 years in far eastern cultures and more recently in the west. Fine needles are inserted into specific points in the body in order to stimulate the body’s own healing response. It is widely used to help with specific symptoms or pain, although some people use acupuncture because they feel generally unwell and others use it to enhance their feeling of wellbeing. Everyone’s illness and symptoms are personal to them, so acupuncture and Chinese medical philosophy emphasises treating the individual.

What happens during treatment?

Diagnosis:Different diagnostic methods are used in order to get a complete picture of your health and lifestyle. This includes a full medical history; reading your pulses; looking at your tongue and palpation. Following this, your personal treatment plan is put together.

Treatment plan: Acupuncture points are selected, and then sterile (single use) needles will be inserted. Needles are very fine (much finer than those used for injections and blood tests). When a needle is inserted you may feel a tingling sensation or dull ache, although very often you won’t feel anything at all. Treatment can be deeply relaxing.

Related treatments may be used in addition to or instead of acupuncture such as auricular acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping or therapeutic massage. Auricular acupuncture can also be used in conjunction with other therapies/programmes in the treatment of addiction.
