Homeopathy for Back Pain

Homeopathy is a scientific practice which looks at the disease to regain natural healing balance in the body. A homeopath looks at the whole person, not just the symptoms and prescribes a remedy to match the picture.

Homeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body’s own healing power. This power is very great and many complaints heal themselves unaided, but when the healing process is faulty, blocked, or slow, the homeopathic remedy acts as a stimulus to the curative powers of the body. These remedies cannot cause side effects, and you cannot become addicted to them. This is because only a very small amount of the active ingredient is used in a specially-prepared formula.

When a homeopath looks at back pain, they look beyond the “pain” and establishes when and what make the pain better or worse. This builds a picture to select the correct remedy. They will also look at the person’s personality too.

There may be stiffness in the back and tearing pains down the thighs (sciatica). It might be worse for the first motion but gets better on moving, (rusty gate syndrome).  Worse for sleep and worse for damp.

There could also be feelings of stiffness and stitches which get worse with sudden changes in weather.

It may get better by doing exercise, applying pressure on the sore area, using hot compresses, bringing legs up to stretch back, after sleeping. Also, it may be worse in the afternoon and evening, worse on the left side, worse before a thunderstorm or from cold air.

There may be pain in the small area of the back as if it is broken, and this pain is relieved by lying on something hard. Lameness can be felt, especially during the morning. There is also a violent pulsation in the small area of the back.

It is then better for wearing tight clothing, getting out in the open air, having a cool bath, lying on the right side but it is worse for a warm room, worse in the morning and from mental stress.

Another remedy suggests tearing pain, back is spasmodically curved like an arch which is worse in the morning and gets more painful when touched. It feels better after sleep, and can be relieved a little in the evening and applying strong pressure to the area of pain.

As you can see there are many ways to ease back pain and so it is advisable to consult a homeopath.
