Foods to Eat for Weight Loss

At the start of each year, many people set plenty of health goals, and one of them is weight loss. With the prevalence of processed foods these days, it has become a challenge for many of us to keep track of their calorie count and consume less than they would burn.

Fortunately, there are plenty of foods that are widely available in supermarkets and grocery stores that aid weight loss and promote overall health. Here they are:

Green Tea

Swap your afternoon coffee with green tea. This therapeutic drink contains polyphenols, which make it a powerhouse for weight loss. And compared to other teas, it contains far more antioxidants that flush harmful chemicals from your system. Plus, it exhibits anti-cancer properties too, which makes it a super, superfood!

Almond

Yes, almonds may be fatty, but in a good way. The fats in these delicious nuts are healthy fats, specifically monounsaturated fats that help you burn more calories and shed excess pounds. And because it is high in protein, almond can power you up with energy, which will help you a lot in exercising. A handful of almonds in a day is enough to reap its weight loss benefits.

Salmon

Salmon is one of the best foods if you are looking to burn belly fats. It is high in omega-3 fatty acids which help prevent body fat from being stored in the first place. It also has monounsaturated fats which, as mentioned, boost weight loss. Furthermore, salmon is good for your heart. And having a healthy heart means being more energetic and active – things you need to maximize your workout session.

Blueberries

Apart from being a powerhouse of antioxidants, blueberries are a great source of catechins too, which play a key role in eliminating belly fat. Eating blueberries everyday can boost belly fat burning by up to whopping 50%!

Grapefruit

Grapefruit is a well-known ‘diet food’. This tangy fruit contains a compound that can lower insulin, a fat-storage hormone, which ultimately leads to weight loss. It’s also a good source of protein, which is needed for muscle-building. Grapefruit is made up of at least 90% water, filling you up so you eat less.

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolates contain monounsaturated fats too, which aid in fat loss by boosting metabolism. What’s more, it can slow down digestion so you feel full longer and eat less at your next meal.

Broccoli

Enjoy it cooked or raw – this cruciferous vegetable is well-known for its cancer-preventing powers. It’s high in fibre and many other vitamins and minerals that promote good health. This superfood is packed with essential nutrients in just under 30 calories per serving!

Spinach

A hundred-gram serving of spinach contains just about 23 calories, so you can eat plenty of it without having to worry about your calorie count. It also packs vitamins, minerals, and fibre.

Avocado

Along with monounsaturated fats (MUFAs), avocados contain oleic acid which helps your body quiet hunger. Stick to a quarter or a half of an avocado and watch that belly fat melt away. The creamy fruit is also packed with fibre and protein.

Weight loss is possible, if you make these foods a part of your diet.
