About Balance Counselling and Reiki
My name is Sharon Robinson. I am a fully qualified, Post-Graduate, BACP Accredited and UKRCP registered counsellor with over 13 years experience and a Reiki Master.
I set up Balance Counselling Service in 2002 and then in 2008 changed the name to Balance Counselling and Reiki. This enabled me to incorporate Reiki into my practise.
I originally came into counselling because of an injury that would affect my mobility, but I knew that I wanted to carry on working. Little did I know then that I had chosen a career that I would come to feel very passionate about. My passion for working with people with problems that are affecting their lives still continues to grow.
WHAT IS COUNSELLING AND WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM IT
Counselling, for me, is an opportunity to work with clients in a warm, respectful, confidential and professional manner; this enables them to explore their issues and find a way of resolving them. I believe that the relationship between a counsellor and client is very unique. Although we are not friends, clients are able to talk safely and freely about the things that trouble them without being judged, criticised or told what to do. Many clients report that this is the first time that they have been able to do this and can soon find themselves talking about issues that they thought they could never do.
I am able to offer CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to clients, which works by linking how we think to behaviours. We can then devise ways to make changes that help clients take control.
I am able to offer appointments both during the day and evenings at a range of times to suit individual clients’ needs. I work from home and there is normally parking available on the drive or very close by. There are only two steps into the house and there are handrails. A WC is on the ground floor, adjacent to the therapy room.
I welcome queries from both prospective clients, professionals’ and the corporate sector, either by telephone or by email.
Counselling can be used in conjunction with other treatments or as a stand alone therapy.
Pronounced ’Ray-key’, meaning Universal Life Energy, Reiki was discovered in the nineteenth century by Dr Mikao Usui.
Reiki is becoming an increasingly popular alternative and non-invasive therapy using energy to heal on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
It is often revealed by clients to be a very relaxing experience.
This type of therapy can also be used for Chakra balancing.

In my experience over the last 11 years, I have come to value the counselling relationship as being very unique. It allows clients to explore, safely, even the deepest and darkest aspects of their lives, leading to autonomy.
I believe it is a privilege to work with my clients’ and be a part of a very special process. I will never take for granted the difficulties that clients’ face every day; and their bravery when they embark on a counselling journey.
I am able to offer Counselling Supervision to both Students’ and qualified Counsellors.
