About Urs Mattmann
My way of working is motivated by Roberto Assagioli who pioneered the Psychosynthesis Approach to counselling and psychotherapy. It is based on the firm belief that each person carries within themselves the potential for personal growth and healing. It then becomes my task as a counsellor to provide you with a safe and accepting environment which offers you the time and space to contact your thoughts and feelings, increase your level of self-awareness and find your own truths. Besides talking therapy tools used may include visualisation or guided imagination work.
I will regard our first session as a one-off during which you will get a flavour of the way I work and, if appropriate, we can then arrange for a limited number of sessions to deal with any specific problems you may have. Short term counselling can offer help in times of decision making or in emotionally dense times such as bereavement, separation or coming out.
When working with you on a long term basis in psychotherapy my focus would shift from immediate crisis intervention and a goal orientated approach to an open exploration of your life issues as they unfold over time. Therapy then becomes a tool on your quest for meaning. Long term therapy will also be more appropriate when dealing with depression, anxiety, self harming tendencies or addictions.
