About Vivienne Shanahan
There is plenty of research to suggest that therapy is very effective in helping people overcome specific problems, face new challenges, get out of a "stuck" place or simply for personal development. So, whether you are struggling with a specific problem - say anxiety, depression, bereavement, or simply feel that you could be getting more out of life, you could consider talking to a counsellor. I am an integrative therapist with many years experience of working one to one with people. This means that I have a range of skills and approaches to bring to your problem.
Each client is different and so I tailor my approach to your needs, your personality and your budget so your counselling will be specific to you. I support you for as long as you want and the length of therapy varies with each person. I find that many clients can achieve a great deal very quickly so therapy can be brief, but no two people are alike and I also support people over longer perioids of time. Becasue my approach is collaborative so you will always be involved in deciding the direction of the therapy and whilst it is difficult to be very precise about how long it takes, we will discuss a way forward and a review point at the first meeting.
Clients come to me with a range of issues: stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, eating and drinking addictions, infertility, career crises and performance problems. If you have any questions about how I might help you, do not hesitate to contact me.
I can see people in my home office and I also have a clinic in Midhurst and in London (EC!). Parking is available in Sussex and although it is more limited in London public transport access is very easy.
I am completely committed to my own personal development and I am constantly reading, researching and updating my skills and I am fully supervised. I am CRB checked and a volunteer counsellor with Arun Counselling Service. I am accredited by the National Counselling Society and the National Hypnotherapy Society.

My early career was in leadership development and consultancy. For the past 20 years I have specialised in working one to one with people in different environments. I spent several years coaching in business before taking further training as I wanted to work in greater depth with people. I am a volunteer counsellor at Arun Counselling Services and I am CRB checked.
In my practice I deal with a wide range of personal problems such as low confidence and poor self-esteem, relationship problems, stress and anxiety, bereavement, depression, and body image and weight loss.
Due to my previous career interests I have a great deal of experience with work based problems such as confidence, stress, anxiety, career change, bullying and work performance. I also boost confidence for people preparing for interview boards, assessment centres or presentations and public speaking. I also work alongside people in new roles as I find this can be a lonely position and some support is often required in the early stages.
I have experience of working on the phone, skype and email if this is more practical that face to face visits.
