About Madeleine Slack MA MBACP (Accredited)
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor, offering a safe, confidential, professional service to all individuals. I believe my practice is personal, relevant and appropriate to meet the needs of all individuals, taking into account everyones uniqueness and therefore tailored to suit respectively. The way I practice is governed by the ethical framework of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), of which I am a member, to ensure safe, ethical practice.
I aim to assure you of a warm, genuine, non-judgemental relationship to enable you the opportunity and space to explore and reflect upon whatever may be troubling you in relation to both past and present or upcoming issues. This will give you the potential to gain a clearer perspective, awareness and understanding of whatever is concerning you.
I have been practicing as a counsellor for a number of years, working with a diverse range of issues, as listed below. Sessions will take place in my home, offering a warm, comfortable, safe space for individuals to explore their problems with a sense of trust and assurance. I recognise the importance of this both as a counsellor and as an individual, with my interest and career in counselling born from my own experiences. Personal experience has allowed me to build and develop my practice to reflect the important needs and values imperative to assure individuals a safe, secure, trusting place to be.
Understanding how our history has shaped the way we think, feel and behave can be the first steps to change.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I have a diploma in therapeutic counselling and am an accredited member of the BACP. I also hold an MA in Counselling Practice from the University of Nottingham.
I have trained and worked as a counsellor in many settings, including the NHS, occupational therapy, alcohol
advice, bereavement and four years working with individuals who have been raped and/or sexually abused. This has meant I have worked with a diverse range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, bereavement and major life adjustments, such as loss, divorce and separation, relationship issues, workplace issues, infertility and miscarriage, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, termination, abortion, miscarriage, alcohol
issues and self-harm.
My personal and professional development is an ongoing vocation with workshops, training and personal development groups being a continuing process.
I am only approx 3 miles from Jct 29 of the M1 and 6 miles from the centre of Chesterfield. I am on a quiet street with easy parking. The counselling setting is that of a warm, comfortable, homely atmosphere.
