About Tracy Levy
I offer a friendly, open, non-judgemental, safe and confidential space where you can explore what is right for you at your own pace. I am down to earth and value difference.
Although therapist’s cant guarantee change; during the last 15 years as a therapist I have worked with people who have been able to make significant changes during therapy; therefore I have called my counselling service "Changes" because I really do believe that change is possible! Throughout my own life I have experienced many changes...some better than others, however all of the changes have made made me the person I am today!
People go to see a therapist because they are wanting change in some way, whether this is improving self esteem, letting go of past issues, unhelpful thinking; relationship problems, increasing confidence or learning to manage and deal with anxiety, depression or anger.
All of us find ways to cope with life and situations; however some coping techniques become unhelpful and don’t work any longer. Counselling can enable you to explore feelings, thoughts and behaviours, with a skilled professional who can help you find your own way forward, whilst empathising and respecting your choices.
My approach of therapy is integrative which means I use a combination of approaches and skills; as experience has taught me that different things work for different people!
As a counselor, hypnotherapist, and EFT practitioner I offer all of these therapies in my practice.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and psychotherapy and work within their code of ethics and practice.
I offer short and long term therapy.
The first step in working with someone for me is to meet for an initial assessment; which enables me to gather further relevant information. It is also a great opportunity to meet in person; ask questions; raise any concerns about therapy without feeling obliged to attend for therapy.
I am happy to answer any questions about my way of working and experience or clarify what I can offer.
My training, work experience and any achievement
Training, qualifications & experience
BA Social Welfare
Advanced Diploma in Counselling
Post Graduate Cert. Counselling & Supervision
Diploma in Hypnotherapy
I have over 15 years experience of working with a wide range of issues as a counsellor in the voluntary sector, NHS and in private practice. I have worked with people from all walks of life; and I really feel passionate about the work I do.
I currently work as clinical lead counsellor in a specialist counselling centre providing counselling for survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence. I also work as a practice counsellor in the NHS. In my private practice I offer counselling, hypnotherapy and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I also offer clinical supervision to other counsellor’s and professionals.
Ongoing training and professional development is really important to me; and I invest a substantial amount of my income into training; personal development and clinical supervision. This enables me to work at my best and offer the most effective therapy for the people I work with.
Key areas of training include:
Relationship dynamics and issues
Working with self harm
Loss and grief
Cross cultural counselling
Attachment and dissociation
Counselling and ethics
Cognitive behavioural interventions
Mediation and conflict resolution
Body image and self esteem
People take a risk as they begin their journey, which can be frightening and uncomfortable... part of my role is to walk besides someone as they explore what is right for them.
I work from within Huddersfield Town Centre which is easy to access from motorways, major driving routes and very close to public transport systems.
