About Alison Reid
I am an experienced counsellor accredited by BACP and a registered UKRC independent practitioner.. I have worked with voluntary organisations, NHS, Prisons, EAP companies, and in private practice for many years. I also offer Clinical Supervision.
I believe that we all have the capacity within us to deal with our problems. Sometimes, this can become clouded by anxiety, depression, or fear and by the many responsibilities we face in our lives. My job is to help you re-discover your own strengths so that you can cope more readily with your difficulties.
I work in a non-judgemental way allowing you to talk about your fears in a safe and supported space. Clients have said they find me easy to talk to and this allowed them to relax and to be open about their problems. I work in a flexible way and adapt my practice to the needs of each individual client.
Sessions last for 60 minutes and can be booked weekly or fortnightly. Length of counselling depends on the needs of the client. Some clients come for two or three sessions while others continue in counselling for many months.
I have qualifications in Person-Centred Counselling and also in CBT. Therefore, I have a wide range of skill and experience on which to draw. This means we can create a way of working which suits your particular needs. You may want to talk through your problems, find coping strategies or set yourself goals that you want to achieve. Why don’t you contact me for a chat to find out if working with me would suit you.
