About Julia Larmer MBACP, Life Steps Counselling Associates
Why contact me?
I believe that all therapy is very personal and has to fit with you, therefore my primary focus is always to work with your interests at the forefront. This means that I work in a very caring, conscientious and safe manner to ensure that you receive the maximum benefit possible and understand everything that is going to happen and why.
I am a Qualified Integrative Counsellor and incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Life Coaching tools to support the counselling process and the progression of counselling.
Alongside private practise, where I work with young people and adults, I have worked for a counselling charity since 2009 working with adults. I have experienced a variety of client work including anxiety, anger, low self-esteem, postnatal depression, depression, bereavement and relationship issues. I have seen how clients have benefited from counselling and seen increased confidence, self-esteem and well being, improved relationships and better coping skills for the future.
I also provide counselling support and guidance to a local parent support group who provide a support network to parents experiencing low mood and post natal depression.
I deliver life skills to groups of young people and adults within a CBT based 8 week programme, "Living Life to the Full". I am also trained to facilitate groups within an 8 week StressBusters programme.
As I continue to develop professionally, I am gaining skills and experience working with children and young people. I volunteer within a primary school, supporting children with building confidence and self-esteem.
Prior to counselling, I worked in a range of successful business roles that I enjoyed, but found myself searching for a vocation that I was truly passionate about. I wanted a vocation that I could continually progress with and that had a genuine purpose. I wanted to do something that I felt had a positive contribution and to enjoy what I was doing. I believe that I have found that vocation.
