About Tanya Nielson Counselling & Psychotherapy
I am a BACP Senior Accredited and Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist and also a Counselling Supervisor. I am trained and experienced in a variety of therapeutic models including: solution focused practice, CBT, EMDR, developmental psychology, narrative, solution focused, systemic theories, sand tray, play therapy, journaling, therapeutic poetry and art work.
When we meet I will endeavour to support you to identify what it is that troubles you and your hopes for the work that we will embark on together. In this process, I will pay full attention to your personal circumstances, cultural/ social context with a sense of presence, acceptance, authenticity, inclusion and respect to you and your experiences. I will aim to support you to build on your internal resources and resilience.
The framework in which I work values the diversity of our experiences, who we are or can be and life in all its contradictions, experiences and depth. I draw upon a number of psychological models and frameworks including those that focus on our developmental experiences, early trauma/loss and also aspects of self that we feel have been underdeveloped.
I have a creative approach that values all aspects of the self – mind, body and soul. In the work I see that whatever is troubling you can be seen as a signal to parts of the self that may need attention, understanding or transformation.
