About Breathing Remedies
I am a Buteyko Practitioner who teaches the Buteyko Method to people with asthma, sinusitis, hay fever and other allergies, and other breathing difficulties. Buteyko is also effective for relief of stress, anxiety, panic attacks and hyperventilation syndrome. Insomnia, snoring and sleep apnoea also respond very well to the Buteyko method. Buteyko is a natural breathing method to train you to breathe more effectively, getting more oxygen into the cells of the body. Buteyko emphasises nasal breathing at all times, and you will be taught how to unblock a stuffy nose to ensure you can do this. Initially you will learn breathing exercises to quickly control your symptoms, then other exercises to do daily so you gently improve your breathing so that you have fewer symptoms. You will learn how diet and exercise can affect your breathing, and how to get a good night’s sleep.
The Buteyko Method relieves asthma symptoms with less medication, and has been listed in the UK Asthma Guideline since 2008.
I have been involved in healthcare for many years, previously in biomedical research as a neuroscientist/cell biologist for a major pharmaceutical company based in London. Like many Buteyko Practitioners, I was so impressed by the impact of the technique on my own health (it dramatically reduced the frequency of my severe migraines) that I decided to train to teach it to others. I now live in the Peak District where I help patients to understand and to ultimately gain control of their own condition, by normalising their breathing pattern.
The science behind the success of the Buteyko Method is compelling, and the clinical trial results convincing. For asthma the method is now “evidence-based” and is the only complimentary therapy to be endorsed for asthma (listed in the UK Guideline for Asthma Management since 2008).
I am within easy reach Manchester, by road or rail. Furness Vale is on the Manchester to Buxton line. I teach one-on-one or in small groups.
