Hello,
I actually live in Singapore but my mum lives in Waverley Court, Portishead. (I have put in my mum’s postcode as I don’t have a UK postcode.) My mum sadly, has dementia and she believes that someone comes into her flat during the night and makes tea and eats toast and leaves the room in a mess. Sometimes they move things from one drawer to another or pull their clothes out of the wardrobe. The front door is always locked and mum has a chair up to the door which is never out of place when she wakes up yet she still believes that someone is getting in. Unfortunately, no one has ever seen ’the mess’ as she has always cleared it up before anyone comes. It is clearly making mum miserable, however, and she is very anxious about it.
I just wondered if you would be able to help her get through this obsession. Of course she will not admit that it is all in her head and that it is an obsession so that may be difficult.
What do you think? Please let me know if you might be able to help or if you have any ideas about how to cope with this.
