About Pete Kerridge MSc, Dip. Psych., Dip. Couns., UKCP

Having previously held the post of Head of Counselling at Middlesex University in London for a number of years, I now work exclusively in private practice from my office in Harley Street, London and from Ipswich. I offer both short term counselling and long term psychotherapy to both individuals and couples. I also offer trauma recovery therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and I teach Trauma and Tension Release Exercises (see description below). EMDR is recommended by the National Institute for Care and Health Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

I am accredited by and registered with the United Kingdom Counsel for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I am an approved counsellor and psychotherapist for Aviva Healthcare, BUPA, Pruhealth, Simply Health and WPA.

I have extensive experience in working with a wide range of difficulties, so if you are experiencing any of the following please do contact me: Anxiety and panic, relationship problems, depression, suicidal thoughts, stress, trauma and post traumatic stress, abuse, self-esteem issues, low self-confidence, anger problems, self harming behaviour, obsessive behaviour/thoughts, fear of intimacy, bereavement and grief, workplace difficulties, loneliness, problems with expressing feelings and emotions.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy to adults and teenagers 16 years and older. I also offer clinical supervision to other psychotherapists and counsellors.

Trauma and Tension Release Exercises (TRE)

TRE is a gentle yet powerful technique that is designed to enable your body to release tension and stress that have accumulated as a result of traumatic experiences such as accidents, abuse, natural disasters, loss, social or domestic violence, long term stress or anxiety and the more immediate stresses experienced in every day life situations.

The technique works by releasing deeply held tension from your body through a sequence of six simple exercises that have been designed to trigger a gentle muscular shaking called ’Neurogenic Muscle Tremors’. These self-controlled tremors start from deep inside the psoas muscle and move outwards, along your spine and release tension and stress from your sacrum to your cranium. One of the great things about TRE is that once learned and mastered, you can use it as and when you need to on your own.
