About Support Counselling Service

My name is Michelle and I am a Counsellor/Psychotherapist working in Newton-le-Willows (late afternoons and evenings only)
I provide a friendly approach, offering support and understanding in a non-judgemental manner. I really enjoy working with people and I respect everyone as a unique individual.

I faced upsetting and difficult experiences in my own life and decided to have counselling which is what made me decide to become a counsellor myself. I found that having someone to talk to about my experiences was really helpful and it made me feel less alone and able to think more clearly about my feelings and behaviour. It is a pleasure for me to be able to help clients in the same way.

I offer confidential counselling for individuals with various concerns. I specialise in Confidence issues and Low Self Esteem however I can work with clients regarding any issues which may include bereavement,  depression, stress, anxiety, behavioural issues, anger, relationship issues or any other problems that you may be experiencing.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, meaning that I use different therapeutic approaches to suit individual needs. One type of Counselling doesn’t necessarily work for all clients so I tailor my service to suit you as a person.

I support my clients by listening carefully to understand them, being empathic and encouraging them to explore their thoughts and feelings which can help them to find their our solutions to their problems.

I may also ask my clients to talk about their past experiences and memories if deemed relevant to the current situation. Sometimes experiences from our past or even unconscious thoughts can be affecting our present life.

I may also offer a slightly more directive approach if I feel it will be of benefit to a client (helpful with behavioural issues). Some client’s find it too difficult to change their own behaviour without some assistance so I use particular exercises that can help with behavioural change.

It’s perfectly normal to feel nervous or uncertain when first deciding to have counselling. Talking to someone that you have never met before can seem like a strange experience, however having been to Counselling myself I know exactly how it feels to be in the clients (your) position. I will remain conscious of this when meeting you.

If you would like to have Counselling from me, I will take some time to listen to your issues and concerns so that both you and I can gain a good understanding of how you are feeling and understand what you want to achieve from your Counselling.

Whether you just want to talk to me about something that’s bothering you or want to change something in your life, we will work together to try and reach your goal. I will guide you throughout the Counselling process offering possible explanations for why you think or feel a certain way and I will ask you relevant questions that allow you to explore your own thoughts.

You can contact me for an informal no obligation chat on 07903356114
or you can drop me an email   michelle@supportcounselling.co.uk

I normally charge £35 per 50 minute session (face to face) however I am offering a discounted session fee of £30 for people who are unemployed. I am also offering online counselling at £20 per 50 minute session.
