Ian Disley Assoc CIPD formally a member of an NHS Community Mental Health Team uses his mental health background as an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Coach to relate common emotional and mental health issues that can interfere with workplace performance.

Teaching Life skills to manage anger issues, depression, anxiety, and communication difficulties. Ian is a qualified Life Coach with over 25 years of experience of working with vulnerable clients. He has spoken nationally on a variety of Mental Wellbeing topics, and is a member of the www.associationforcoaching.com/

With his insights about the common issues and challenges that people face as a foundation to mental ill health, he has spoken extensively on topics including assertiveness, positive thinking, communication and managing stress effectively. Ian has provided interactive presentations to all types of workplaces, from small businesses, government agencies to charities and community groups. His primary focus has been to offer practical, “hands on” strategies to boost emotional resilience, self-empowerment, enhancing personal and workplace wellness.

His interest in the importance of Workplace Wellness led him to form Coaching Solutions where he applies his insights about people and mental health issues to the world of work by offering seminars, consultation, Career Coaching and troubleshooting to the workplace.

Ian has also taught Employability Skills courses extensively at the college level, as well as managed and delivered Personal & Social Development programmes around the country. As an NHS Employment Specialist has helped long term absentees be phased back to work and supported employees in the workplace who are suffering stress, managing change and facing redundancy.

My training, work experience and any achievement

As Practice Manager of the Chrysalis Well Being Centre I manage a team of 12 very experienced Counsellors and Self-help Coaches, with backgrounds in Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, Health & Social Care and Employability Training.

Life Coaching shares many features in terms of being a talking therapy, seeking to empower clients to access inner resources, to make sense of their lives as they currently live them and to engage with growth and change.

Using our own 5-Areas Peak Performance Coaching model we empower others to increase performance and productivity in the workplace and find a work life balance.

With thousands of hours one to one coaching experience (plus 13 years in the armed forces including achieving the Green Beret) and over 10 years in Development Training with groups, team and leadership coaching roles. I am now in my 25th year of working in my own practice as an Independent Consultant after starting out as Ian Disley Management Services in April 1991.

You may already be running groups or about to embark on this role. You may know something about CBT already but not have applied that knowledge in a group setting before. Our seminar will give you an understanding of Cognitive Behavioural approaches including our 5-areas performance coaching assessment tool.

Our CBT & DBT Skills courses are interactive and you will have an opportunity to learn how to facilitate group activities incorporating CB Coaching principles and strategies or to experience a CBC focused group activity and to give or receive feedback on this experience

You should have some experience of engaging effectively with others in a helping role, typically with some supervision, line management or coaching support under your belt already.
