About Paula Newman BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor

There are many ways of getting strong, sometimes talking is the best way.

Counselling is time and space for you, It is an opportunity to talk about your distress and concerns with a professional therapist. You are likely to gain deeper understandings and insights, learning more about yourself and your relationships. As we work together, new perspectives and possibilities tend to emerge. You may find that you are feeling less stuck and more able to make decisions and changes in your life. Many people tell me that being able to speak openly and feeling really heard is healing in itself.

My Clients
I am experienced in working with people from various cultures and nationalities. I greatly value the insights that clients give me into their beliefs and ways of life. Some of my clients have conditions which affect their learning such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and aspergers.

My Counselling approach is Person-Centred
My person-centred approach involves providing a healing and supportive relationship. This includes understanding you at a deep level, accepting you warmly and being genuine and sincere.

Counselling
Counselling is for individuals, couples and families.
You may wish to address a particular issue, or perhaps you are seeking counselling because of a feeling that all is not well. Sometimes this is not very easy to put into words and we can work towards getting a clearer sense of what is going on for you.

Supervision
I supervise experienced and trainee counsellors. We explore your therapy relationships with clients and reflect upon your professional development.

Focusing
Focusing is a gentle way of listening to your inner self and being in touch with your body’s wisdom. By paying attention to tensions and sensations in your body you can be more aware of their emotional qualities. Focusing can help in many areas of life including decision making, relationships and creativity.
