Individuals
Much of my work is intensive work with individuals who come once, twice or three times each week. This work is usually long term and open-ended. Appointments are at regular times and last for 50 minutes.
Couples and parents
Couples often come to psychotherapy when things are at a crisis point or are very stuck. Parents may be worried about their children or how their own difficulties are affecting their children. So at the beginning of the therapy there is often a lot going on which may feel overwhelming. Appointments are weekly for an hour.
Young adults
I have a special interest in working with young adults. This tends to be shorter term work with a weekly appointment.
- My training, work experience and any achievement
-
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a couples psychotherapist. I trained at the Tavistock Centre for Couples Relationships and the West Midlands Institute for Psychotherapy. I am registered as a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) although I used to be a member of the UKCP before a number of psychoanalytic organisations moved over to BPC in about 2006.
I am also a member of the Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy and act as Intake Co-ordinator on the Psychoanalytic Training. For my couples work I belong to the Bristish Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Counsellors (BSPPC).
My past work experience is based in the voluntary sector and with charities, particularly charities dealing with women, Asian women, children and families. I am now self- employed working but with some NHS referrals as well as some involvement with low fee psychotherapy schemes. I also supervise a number of other practitioners.
